What is the Grosse Pointe Public Library (GPPL) requesting on the November 2026 ballot? 

The GPPL is asking voters to RENEW a supplemental millage that comprises about 30% of the Library's annual revenue. The millage was approved by voters in 2011 for a maximum levy of 0.700 mills. The 2026 proposal is asking voters to approve a renewal of 0.6432 for 15 years. The millage would expire in 2042. 

What will the millage be used for? 

The millage will be used for all GPPL operations, including staff, books, technology, building maintenance and improvements, and to pay off the bonds levied to execute the library building improvements, completed in 2024. In 2026, the GPPL Board of Trustees adopted a five-year strategic plan based on resident feedback. The successful execution of the plan depends on a renewal of the supplemental millage.
